Since autumn 2002 I am undertaking a PhD at Central Saint Martins
College of Art and Design in London. I am also attached to the renown Smartlab
research centre. My research is looking at metaphor in tangible
interface design. More recently I am concentrating on the relationship
between these design elements and connections to narrative and poetry.
I am reflecting on these issues on the basis of a strong interest in
user and audience experience with interactive art and design pieces.
My research was partly funded by an AHRC fees-only grant from autumn 2002 until summer 2005

Partial Eclipse is a project in interactive narrative. I started it during a workshop held by Mediamatic
in Tartu/Estonia and I was mainly using footage from my recent project
"The Lost Cosmonaut" in order to explore issues of interactivity and
narrative. The piece was produced with Florian Thalhofer's Korsakow software. It's definitely worth looking at Florian's own interactive film work
as well.
Recommendations for watching: You will need broadband connection.
Sound is quite important, so turn it up or use headphones. Currently it
seems not to work with the Firefox browser in combination with a Mac. To watch

A pen that can read and write is at the centre of this project. With
the help of this 'magic pen' the audience experiences and writes the story of
cosmonauts mysteriously stranded in space.

In cooperation with the GlobIS-Lab at ETH Zurich as part of the Artists-in-labs project by the HGK Zuerich.

 With
the arrival of new media and our emergence into cyberspace our
faulty and cumbersome bodies will soon be rendered obsolete. Maybe we can
even live forever in an abundant world, restricted only by processor
speed and the constraints of the programmers' imaginations... But what
if technologies become obsolete even faster than anything bound to
flesh? What if we put our trust into memories that will be erased to
nearly the same speed as they build up?
